POSITION: Seeking DYNAMIC, motivated Suzuki Violin Instructor. Candidates with additional teaching skills in a secondary instrument (e.g., piano, voice, guitar, etc.), and/or certified class (e.g., Kindermusik, Children’s Music Academy, etc.) will have increased success in maintaining 25-40 hours of weekly employment.

ABOUT US: Entering its 12th year of business, Harris Academy of the Arts provides instruction for 425+ students in the areas of piano, voice, guitar, strings, woodwinds, brass, Kindermusik, Children’s Music Academy, Rock Bands, Choral Ensembles and more. We average 15 instructors whom are university trained, dedicated individuals. Our enrollment allows for faculty to secure solid year-round income.

Currently, we employ 3 violin/viola instructors whom have full schedules with waiting lists. Current string students range in age from 3 years old – 84 years of age. Not only do we have a strong following in younger students as beginning violin students, we also have a strong population of adults and retired individuals taking violin lessons/classes. A popular performance group, “String Alongs” (ages 60 and older) averages 8-10 performances within the community each year. Their nominal fee charged for each performance allows for a scholarship opportunity for young students wanting to play the violin.
DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: Instruct at least 25 hours of private and group instruction. Encourage regular student performance opportunities on behalf of the academy. Participate in academy events (e.g., faculty and student recitals, student festivals, student performances, academy events, etc.).
PROFESSIONAL PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES: Harris Academy of the Arts actively promotes professional musician services for varied events (e.g., weddings, corporate events, fund-raisers, etc.) On average, we perform 75-100 professional performances annually. An average of 70% of our professional performances include strings (e.g., string quartet, violin duets, violin/cello duets, violin/piano duets, violin solo, etc.).
QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Bachelor’s degree (or its equivalent) in Music, preferable Violin and/or Suzuki Teacher Training and experience. 2-3 years prior teaching experience. Skills: Role model, integrity, charisma, superb communicator, patient, encouraging, reinforcing.
SALARY: Commensurate with training and experience, retention, quality of instruction, number of students and demonstrated student progress.
