Katherine Welk earned her bachelor’s degree in vocal performance from Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska where she also studied piano and was a collaborative pianist for numerous choirs and performances. She served as Hastings College’s top collaborative pianist for three years. Katherine was a member of and principle pianist for both the college’s Music Theatre Ensemble and Entertainment Arts Ensemble, was principle pianist for the Hastings College Singers and Choral Union, was a collaborative pianist for numerous student recitals, in addition to pianist for the musical “Working” by Stephen Swartz. During her time at Hastings College, Katherine performed as a pianist for two churches, as well as serving as a substitute pianist for a third church. She is past president of the Hastings College chapter of the Nebraska Music Teacher Association and Student Nationals Association of Teachers of Singing.
While growing up in Grand Island, NE, Katherine started taking piano lessons in at an early age and continued with piano and voice lessons throughout her school career. In 2013, she began teaching both voice and piano lessons at a private studio to a variety of students. Katherine enjoys sharing her love of music with her students, and has found success using creative instructional styles and techniques to help singers and pianists reach their full potential.
In her free time, Katherine enjoys meeting friends for coffee, selling Mary Kay cosmetics, reading, and spending time outside.
