Originally from Belleville, Kansas, Colton graduated from Republic County High School before beginning his professional path in music. He attained his Associates of Arts degree from Cloud County Community College before going on to attend Wichita State University and Kansas State University, earning a degree in Guitar Performance while maintaining active membership as a member of Phi Theta Kappa honor society. Colton then began teaching private music lessons full-time, scheduling and organizing lessons fully independently.

Colton is no stranger to performances either; on average, he has been playing gigs once a month since he was fourteen years old. He has consistently performed in rock, country, and jazz genres, and has also had experience with Latin and classical music. He has recorded several times as a solo artist and in band settings.

When he’s not teaching, Colton spends time with his girlfriend, Samantha – a graduate vocalist at UNL – and their two pitbull puppies, Luna and Jaco. He enjoys cooking, reading and staying active.
