On Friday, September 28, 2012 current and former Nebraska State Legislators celebrated the Legislature’s 75th anniversary with a dinner and reception at the State Capitol. Guests enjoyed HAA string quartet music among the grand ambiance of the Great Hall, the Capitol Rotunda and the Norris Legislative Chamber. In conjunction with celebrating the 75th anniversary, the George W. Norris Statesman Award was presented for the first time to former legislator, the late Senator Jerome Warner. Senator Warner served from 1963 to 1997. The award selection was unanimously made by a committee consisting of all living former Speakers of the Legislature. The presentation and award reaffirmed his statesmanship qualities and his greatness as a state legislator. (Text provided by Patrick O’Donnell)
