McKenna DeRiese
McKenna DeRiese (13 years old) has a variety of both musical and non-musical hobbies, including reading, playing softball, and playing clarinet, piano, and guitar on top of it all! McKenna just started taking clarinet lessons with HAA instructor Heath White this year, but she’s taken music lessons for a total of 7 years now.
When she isn’t practicing or participating in one of her other favorite hobbies, you might find McKenna enjoying some watermelon and strawberries, watching her favorite movie Aladdin or listening to her favorite musician Taylor Swift. Her goals with music are to make All-State this year, which is a great goal for a young musician such as herself to have!
McKenna is a fun student who enjoys performing, especially with her friends. When asked about her favorite performance memory, she shared “When I sang my favorite song with my really good friend during our church musical!” She is also a very driven student. Her clarinet instructor Heath White said “She’s an extremely motivated learner, and a fast one! She’s been practicing a lot for All-State and learning new notes, a lot on her own outside of our lessons. She has a lot of drive when it comes to achieving her goals.”
